Shipdham 120-10 lost to East Harling 122-4 by 6 wickets. Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division1
Despite not having won away from home this season and missing Kevin Seymour and Michael Pill, Harling travelled to lowly Shipdham with high hopes of breaking their duck. Having won the toss Barry Wells had no hesitation in asking Shipdham to bat and was pleased to see a tight opening spell with Stuart Ayton partnering Andrew Macrow. The first 4 overs yielded just one run as Harling gained the upper hand, Pag made a double breakthrough having both openers Robson 9 and Gadson 5 both caught by Matt Jubb as the the home side struggled to 33-2 from 12 overs. A double bowling change saw the pace taken off the ball as Stuart Hilton and sunday stalwart Doug Howe ( father of Adam) continued to pressurise the batsmen. Riches and Hunt slowly set about repairing the early damage with an obdurate stand of 52 spread over 20 overs, ending with Hunt 14 stumped by Barry Wells off Doug, a debut wicket in the Norfolk League. Top scorer Riches 38 followed an over later later trapped lbw by Stu Hilton. Apart from the resistance offered by Spalding 22 the middle order and tail fell apart, with a run out, a further wicket for Stuart, before the pace attack returned to wrap up the innings for 120 in 38 overs.

If Harling thought that the hard work had been done they were quickly proved wrong, as last weeks centurion Ross Pickerill and Matt Jubb were both back in the hutch without troubling the scorer, within the first 3 overs with just a bye on the board. Stuart Hilton 12 joined Rob Free in a stand of 31before he was bowled by Raven, with Steve Fisher 3 being bowled by Hunt, the Harling reply wobbled again at 40-4 from 14 overs. However,Rob Free and Barry Wells had no thoughts of defeat, putting together the highest partnership of the game, an unbeaten 82 as Rob 59 ( 10 fours and a 6)recorded another half century and Barry 25 carried Harling to victory by 6 wickets with 16 overs to spare and lifted them to 4th in the table.
Man of the Match Rob Free for an excellent 50 and another catch.
A good victory, particularly with 2 key players missing, good to see Stu Ayton getting back into his stride after a couple of difficult weeks.
EastHarling 224-4 beat Great Yarmouth 198-10 by 26 runs. Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division 1
Another fine sunny day greeted Great Yarmouth as they travelled To Harling hoping to extend their unbeaten start to the season. Harling were equally keen to extend their unbeaten home record.
Yarmouth had the better start, with Ellis and Vickers bowling well, Ellis having Rob Free 8 caught behind to a ball that kept low, and then bowling Kevin Seymour 15 reducing Harling to 44-2. A solid stand of 83 between opener Ross Pickerill and Matt Jubb 32 swung the pendulum back towards the home side as the back up bowlers were punished ending when Jubb drove uppishly to mid-off. Pickerill and Stuart Hilton had no intention of reducing the scoring rate, the opener eventually being caught behind off Vickers for a superb 105 after 44 overs at the crease,as Harling finished with a very competitive 224-4 with Stu Hilton 42 not out.
The bowlers were quick to seize the initiative as Yarmouth were reduced to 11-3 in the same time it took England to go 2-0 down to Switzerland, by a superb opening spell from Michael Pill and Andrew Macrow, with Pill bowling Fitzsimmons 4 with an in swinging Yorker and then beating S Ruddick for pace, whilst his partner had Sole brilliantly caught by Steve Fisher at mid-wicket, both for a single. The visitors then showed why they had remained unbeaten so far this season as Hak and Derry started to rebuild the innings , until Derry 31 was deceived by Stuart Hilton's slower ball and caught by Macrow, his first of the season. Pill returned to remove the accomplished Hak 57 caught by Kevin Seymour, Stuart Ayton bowled Medd 33 as he tried to force the pace, leaving R Ruddick to bat with the tail. The task proved too much as Stuart Hilton turned one sharply to bowl Noakes 3, Stuart Ayton uprooted Vickers' 6 leg stump, and Johnston's aging legs failed to beat Jubby's throw from the boundary, run out 0, leaving the battling Ruddick 47 not out and the visitors falling 26 short.
Harling now have 2 consecutive away games to end their 100% losing run away from the Rec starting with Shipdham.

Man of the Match Ross Pickerill,
East Harling 177-7 lost to Old Catton 178-3 by 7 wickets. Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division 1
Harling travelled to Postwick expecting a tough game against old adversaries Old Catton, but hopeful of picking up their first away win of the season.
As soon as the Harling innings started they were forced off by rain for a 20 minute break. Openers Rob Free and Ross Pickerill soon gained momentum, scoring above 5 an over as 60 was put on for the first wicket, before Ross 18 was caught off Fossey. Rob and Kevin Seymour were then shackled by the introduction of Jackson, who conceded just 14 in his 12 over spell. Rob 43 was then run out, with Kevin 3 and Matt Jubb 6 both fell to Jackson in quick succession as Harling slumped to 89-4 in the 20th over, before an excellent stand of 65 between Stuart Hilton 42 and Barry Wells 32 turned the innings round. It could have been much worse, as Barry edged one between keeper and slip to the boundary to get off the mark, only to given out lbw, sportingly he was called back, but as the ball becomes dead with the umpire's original decision, no runs were scored. Once again 2 Harling wickets fell in quick succession, and only Steve Fisher's breezy 11 not out saw Harling to a final total of 177-7.
Catton's openers, Ames and Cooke struggled against Andrew Macrow and Michael Pill, Macrow dismissing Cooke 6, caught by Ross Pickerill, and Pilly not conceding a run until his fifth over, as he tired Ames started to pick up the run rate by taking 10 off his 7th over, signalling the introduction of Stuart Hilton, whose spell with 3 maidens. With Catton only on 47 from 20 overs, Harling were in the driving seat if only they could get amongst the wickets, 10 overs later Hilton's slower ball had Ames 38 well caught by David Fowler in the deep, keeping the game evenly poised, however, Loome, eager to make up for his one over that cost 13 had other ideas, mixing singles and extravagent hitting he scored 43 from just 30 balls as 59 runs were added in 7 overs, until becoming Macrow's second victim and Harlings final success as the home team had little difficulty in reaching their target with 3 overs to spare.
Harling are certainly finding that the cricket in this division is much harder, batsman are more aware of a quick single and bad balls are routinely hit to the boundary, if they can bowl a little tighter at crucial times in the game, and stop losing wickets in twos then they will be able to match the better sides in the division.
Bowling: A Macrow 12-2-38-2, M Pill 8.4-4-25-0, S Hilton 12-4-49-1, S Ayton 9-0-52-0.
Man of the Match Stuart Hilton.
East Harling 79-3 beat Ketteringham Hall 78-10 by 7 wickets. Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division 1
On a warm breezy afternoon Harling were disappointed to find themselves fielding after Ketteringham Hall had won the toss, but spirits were soon lifted when Michael Pill broke through, bowling Butler for 0 in the fourth over. At the other end Andrew Macrow, having conceded a 2 in his first over, then bowled 7 successive maidens, Pill had Quinton caught behind by Barry Wells for 2, and opener Smith was run out for 2 as the presssure to score mounted. 16-3 from 11 overs. Macrow then removed Charlish 4 and A Bush 0 in the space of 3 balls, both caught at slip by Stuart Hilton, as the visitors slumped to 29-5, only 2 runs had been added when Stuart Ayton had top scorer Kennedy 18 caught byPill at mid-on and soon after bowled Woods as the visitors crept to 40 and a batting bonus point in the nineteenth over, There then followed an entertaining stand of 24 between J Bush 15 and Batch 13, ending when Stuart Hilton removed them both in successive balls, caught by Ayton and Rob Free, then wrapped up the innings having Hawes 10 stumped by Wells. 78 all out in the 37th over.
Bowling: A Macrow 12-7-19-2, M Pill 6-3-10-2, S Ayton 12-3-31-2, S Hilton 6.3-1-13-3.
The Harling response was much more positive, with Rob Free and Ross Pickerill putting on 28 against the spin of Pezold and the pace of Batch, before Free 9 was caught off Pezold. Kevin Seymour10 joined Pickerill 35 as they continued to dominate the bowling, until the opener surprisingly skied a slow full toss from Kennedy to cover, and with 4 required for victory, Seymour drove far too early, trying to hit the ball out of the ground and reach the second batting point, and was bowled by Kennedy. Having been dropped first ball at point, Stuart Hilton settled with Matt Jubb in guiding Harling to an easy 7 wicket victory with 20 overs to spare. Although having reached 78, they chose to run 2 ....... only the first counted as the game is over once the target is reached, so (1) pointless.
Man of the Match Andrew Macrow for building up the pressure at the start of the innings, the 19 runs conceded also included a 5 wides, so only 6 scoring shots in 12 overs.
He also provided the game's pantomime moment when fielding at mid-on to Stuart Hilton. The ball was hit hard and high over Pag's head, he turned and gave chase in the hope of preventing the boundary, only to hear Michael Pill at mid-off shouting "it's behind you" as the ball held up in the wind and landed 5 yards behind him. But proof that he's as quick as ever in the field.
