East Harling 119 - 3 beat Great Melton B 117 -10 by 7 wickets in Lucas Fettes Norfolk League Division 3.

Harlings defeat at Happisburgh last week had seen them replaced at the top of Division 3 by old rivals Great Melton B. On a day when showers were forecast Barry Wells won the toss and putting the visitors into bat on a good wicket, as they never seem to bat well at Harling. Today was no exception. Michael Pill responding well to two fours by getting Loines caught behind for 10 in the fourth over. At the other end Andrew Macrow had recovered his normal tight line and length ( after some harsh treatment in the last 2 games) bowled Cook for 1. With Melton on 17 -2 from 12 overs Pill was replaced by Stuart Ayton, after a run out in his first over he proceeded to bowl his best spell of the season, bowling opener Lachowycz for 26 and then Moxon for 21. Off spinner Stuart Hilton replacing Macrow removed Steve Phoenix with a smart one handed caught and bowled, following up to bowl both Allen and Srinni for 0 in his next over. With the score on 79 - 8 from 37 overs the rain made its first appearance and tea was taken early. A refreshed Michael Pill soon bowled Grenville Ireland for 2 before a last wicket stand of 38 took Melton to 118 with D Bunn 24 not out.

Bowling A Macrow 12 -2 -30 -1, M Pill 9.3 -2 -23 -3, S Ayton 12 - 6 -20 -2 S Hilton 10 -3 -33 -3.

The Harling innings did not get underway until 6pm and with storm clouds gathering they needed to score quickly, 30 from 12 overs for the loss of Rob Free, carelessly run out for 10. Kevin Seymour and Stuart Hilton were forced off briefly at 40 -1 from 15, returned to take the score to 100 when Hilton was bowled for an excellent 41 by Cook trying to force the pace as more rain fell. After a break of 30 minutes Harling resumed needing 18 to win and further rain only minutes away. Adam Howe pulled his first ball hard to square leg who made a valiant attempt at the catch, the next 2 sailed over his head for 4, Kevin Seymour was then bowled by Gristwood in the next over for 42 before Howe wrapped things with 17 from 10 balls. Just before the rain returned once more. Credit should be given to Great Melton for the way in which they saw the game through to a conclusion, a result that takes us back to second with Happisburgh moving to top even though they didn't play.

Man of the match Stuart Hilton for his 3 wickets, his catch and his 41.
