Cringleford Lodge A 159 - 10 lost to East Harling 209 - 5 by 50 runs.
Following last week's easy victory at home to Cringleford, Harling were in a confident mood for the immediate return game. Cringleford won the toss and thankfully asked Harling to bat, a decision that they soon regretted as Rob Free and Ross Pickerill put on 123 for the first wicket, before Free was bowled by Feeney in the 30th over for an excellent 58, Pickerill lasting a further 7 overs before being caught off the last ball of Spinks' final over for a more patient 55. After watching the opening pair knock the runs off last week Kevin Seymour was determined not to miss out this week scoring 43 off 45 balls before becoming the first of veteran Eric Critchfield's 2 wickets, Andrew Macrow following 3 balls later hitting a well timed reverse sweep straight to point, didn't know that this shot was in his armoury! The Harling innings eventually closing on 209 - 5 with the help of 31 extras.
Having taken taken 30 overs to reach 33 last week Cringleford fairly raced to 55 - 2 from just 12 overs, with opening bowlers Andrew Macrow and Michael Pill removing opener H Aspen and no 3 J Stanley both bowled for 10. Spinks was then caught by Rob Free in Stuart Ayton's second over, with Free taking a second catch to remove Longman as Steve Fowler took 3 wickets to leave Cringleford reeling on 111 - 6 from 31 overs. Ayton then had Garrood caught behind in his final over, before the returning Macrow dismissed opener T Aspen for 66 in the 41st over and then finished off the tail with 2 balls remaining , leaving Eric on 7 not out including a well struck 4 of Michael Pill. Cringleford 159 - 10. A victory that keeps Harling top of Division 3.
Bowling A Macrow 10.4 -1 -43 -4, M Pill 10 -2 -47 -1, S Ayton 12 -2 -27 -2, S Fowler 12 -2 -33 -3. |
